Potty Day – Sun 11th March

All the early potatoes are in.

Craig has made some cute little signs to go at end of each bed, denoting what is in them.

Terry, Ian ans Craig used the auger to get the four posts in to be used to anchor the greenhouse.

Craig and Donna have donated some Crocosmia which has gone into one of the hub segments.

Planted out 4 more jerusalem artichokes.

Mon 5th Mar – We’ve been framed!

Managed to get the greenhouse frame together after 3 or so hours.

We rested it on the paving slabs and the wind was so strong it blew like tumbleweed across the site. Ancohored with a railway sleeper for now.

Wakeham Trust Funding

Good news!

We have received a £100.00 grant from the Wakeham Trust.

Thurs 1st Mar – Fartichokes

Did you know that the common nickname for Jerusalem Artichokes is ‘Fartichokes’? This is because is you eat too many they have unfortunate windy side effects. Tasty all the same.

Today we planted out 10 or so Jerusalem Artichoke tubers next to the rhubarb.

Nigella

We also planted out some Love-in-a-mist (Nigella) self seeded in Claire’s guerilla patch and some Forget-me-nots (Myosotis) in one of the hub segments. Sprinkled some seeds of poppy, calendula and cornflower in the segment too.

Added some manure into bed for strawberries.

Marked out one bed to far side of hub and flattened some paths.

The radish are coming up!

Looks like rain for Sunday’s potato event (but we do need it).
